The integral version of Maxwell’s equations is engraved into the concrete on the exterior of the Warsaw University Library’s main entrance building. These equations demonstrated that electricity, magnetism, and light are all three facets of the same phenomenon known as electromagnetic. They helped physicists predict the existence of electromagnetic waves long before they were ever discovered. Even more remarkable, it has been demonstrated that light itself is an electromagnetic wave flowing through space. These equations were the starting point for radio technology, wireless communication, and understanding what light is.
