During a trip to Scotland, Stevenson and his nephew came up with the idea for the story when they were drawing a map together. The map was supposed to lead to an imaginary treasure. Jim Hawkins, a young boy full of daring and adventure, is the narrator of this story. He is the one who obtains a treasure map and joins an adult crew in their search for the buried treasure. Long John Silver, a scoundrel who is part of the crew and intends to keep the treasure for himself, is determined to steal it. This was Stevenson’s first work of fiction to be published in its entirety, and it immediately brought him fame. It continues to enthrall readers of all ages.
