The Paradox of the Derivative

What is an “instantaneous rate of change” when change happens across time? What is the paradox of the derivative? The goal here is simple: Explain what a derivative is. The thing is, though, there’s some subtlety to this topic and some potential for paradoxes if you’re not careful, so the secondary goal is that you have some appreciation for those paradoxes and how to avoid them.
