The Golden Ratio Nautilus

The Nautilus shell is typically associated with the golden ratio. There is considerable uncertainty, misinformation, and dispute over whether the golden ratio nautilus is real or a myth! Some claim yes, but present no proof at all. Some present examples of spirals but wrongly presume that every equiangular spiral in nature is a golden spiral.

Several university math instructors say no; however, they simply compared the nautilus spiral to the spiral generated from a golden rectangle. Another university professor claims no but simply measured the height and width of the entire shell. Let’s look at this objectively and answer this enigma and argument.
