The Golden Ratio Nautilus

The Nautilus shell is typically associated with the golden ratio. There is considerable uncertainty, misinformation, and dispute over whether the golden ratio nautilus is real or a myth! Some claim yes, but present no proof at all. Some present examples of spirals but wrongly presume that every equiangular spiral in nature is a golden spiral.

Several university math instructors say no; however, they simply compared the nautilus spiral to the spiral generated from a golden rectangle. Another university professor claims no but simply measured the height and width of the entire shell. Let’s look at this objectively and answer this enigma and argument. After the video, you should also check Rafael Araujo’s Mesmerizing Geometrical Drawings Using Golden Ratio.
