The woodland animals were all preparing for winter. Geese flew south, rabbits and deer developed thick winter coats, and raccoons and chipmunks curled up for a long winter nap. The wise owls were the first to notice the rainbow around the moon around Christmastime. It was a sure sign that the heavy snow was approaching.
