24 Science Fiction Books That Predict the Future

Books have the power to transport us to different places and times. We often read books to get a taste of life in the past. But some authors write books that predict the future and our present society’s facts to venture into the unknown of the future with a level of detail that seems impossibly accurate.

Are there any books that predict the future?

In reality, authors’ imaginations painted portraits that would eventually be mirrored by history books a century later. For instance, George Orwell’s 1984, perhaps the best-known dystopian novel, is often used as a barometer for corruption and government control. “The iconic science fiction book that transformed how we view the universe and ourselves by capturing and extending Stanley Kubrick’s vision in his famous film.

2001: A Space Odyssey is a voyage unlike any other, taking the reader from the African savannas at the start of humanity to the rings of Saturn as a man travels to the farthest reaches of our solar system.

This landmark effort in storytelling follows the crew of the spaceship Discovery as they set off on a voyage to Saturn in this metaphor about humanity’s study of the cosmos and how the cosmos responds to humans. HAL 9000, a supercomputer created artificially with the maximum level of intelligence that can rival—and maybe endanger—the human mind, is in charge of steering their ship.

2001: A Space Odyssey, which deals with space travel, technological dangers, and the limits of human might, is still regarded as a timeless masterpiece of cinematic breadth.”
